Here at Ramenblog, we wanted our first recipe to really appeal to the masses. Something flavorful and filling, yet simple enough to make using only a few ingredients. We chose the Sapporo Ichiban Chicken as our base because we knew the nuttiness of the sesame seeds and sharpness of the green onions would compliment the light but robust chicken flavor. We proudly present to you our Goma Negi Ramen Recipe (“Goma” = sesame, “Negi” = green onions).

All you will need:

1/4 Tbsp sesame oil – 9¢

Directions:

Boil 2 cups of water in a pot.

Throw in egg and cook for 1 min.

Place ramen in pot and cook for 1 min. (al dente, not soggy)

Add seasoning packet. Cook for 15 seconds.

Pour everything into a bowl.

Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and drizzle sesame oil on top.

Total cost from instant to gourmet:

.20 + .05 + .17 + .09 = 51¢

An instant ramen classic turned gourmet with roasted sesame seeds and freshly chopped green onions for about two quarters. Incidentally, we just got our electric bill and it cost us more in pure wattage writing this post than it did to actually make it. Go figure. Until next week!
